New Trial Staff:
As many of you know, we have been hiring for the past few weeks. We've now reached the end of our hiring process and have made our choices of who we wish to hire. In total, six people have been selected. The trial time period ends on the 15th of August where all staff, regulars and trial, will be undergoing a performance review that starts immediately. For the two who have had share already, their performance review has already started. If anyone cannot be available for the performance review period, please contact Pow or Shy Red's Original on here or in Furcadia to see if we can work something out for you. Without further ado, the following are SROARL's new trial staff members.
I Will Fall For U
Adsila23
Sockz
Sarife
Rabben
Rakurei
I Will Fall For U was chosen, not based on an application, but due to attendance, lack of a negative record, and knowledge of how the dream works on a basic scale. He has already started a performance review and I hope to see he is capable of the full time position.
Adsila23 was also chosen, not based on an application, but for willing to be a part of the dream, doing what ever can be done to further the dream's productivity, and for being responsible in her duties. She, too, has already started a performance review shows signs of capability.
Sockz was chosen based on previous, historical, experience with the dream as well as experiences with other popular dreams such as Yellowstone and Alaskan Wolven Woodlands. As such, great expectations can be made.
Sarife has been a very frequent visitor to the dream since her start on Furcadia. This is to my knowledge anyways. As a Helper Beekin, I've helped her quite a lot in her dream weaving. Through such, I have noticed the willingness to put forth the effort to achieve what needs to be done and the willingness to learn.
Rabben was a total surprise. Never once, besides the original original staff has an adult that is a nine year Furcadia veteran came to A Rabbit's Life and wanted to be staff. Well, this is in my experience anyways. Rabben is very experienced in all of Furcadia's rules, workings, and dream running...among other things. Rabben is two types of volunteer beekin and runs her own dream. Rabben has the ability to succeed in this, or any other dream in my opinion.
At last, Rakurei. Rakurei stood out as well for her opinions. She didn't think like everyone else did and just really overall had a different point of view. Her answers stood out and were always to the point. This mature individual is outgoing, organized, and professional, according to how she wrote, and therefore would make a very decent staff member.
Congratulations to all six of you and may you learn from your experiences as you work for SROARL. For those who did not get the position, please be aware that you can reapply in the future. Now then, there were some disagreements that I had with some application answers. Everyone has the right to an opinion though we technically run on the dream's opinion. The following section will go over the essay questions that need explaining and how the dream runs.
Question #28 asks about how you would handle someone spamming with holes, or other general means of spam. Dream rule #11 states to not spam. The rule is very general and according to dream policy #2, each individual staff member is allowed to determine the rules and policies in their best understanding unless told by a higher member. Dream rule #7 furthers this by saying that staff have final word. Because of these rules and policies, staff have the right to judge what is spamming for themselves. Spamming may include item spamming, shout spamming, help channel spamming, hole spamming, and screen spamming. How to handle this is to find out who is doing the spamming, gather information (logs if needed), and then follow through. The follow through will depend on if it is a first time, second time, or third time offender. First time offenders will get a warning. This would count for the second warning they have had because the entry DS button prevents anyone saying that they didn't know. A second time offender can be ejected based on the present staff member's digression. This would add up to a third warning. A third time offender would need no more warnings at all. Ejection is required and can result in a banishment for a period of time, based on the severity. Staff members, please clean up the spamming if possible in each instance.
Question #29 asked about what will one staff member do when in an argument with another staff member. Obviously, if there is a heated argument with another staff member, the rules that say staff have final say and they can follow through with the rules are invalid to the situation. Both staff members have the capability to say he said she said and eject each other constantly. If it is about how to do something, consult another staff member or try to go through the decision making processes on the Dream Regulations page. You can even agree to disagree and post it on the forum for the owner or a head manager to advise on. If anything, a third party staff member would be good to help mediate any argument. Also, please log any staff arguments and post them in the Report: Staff section IN the staff area.
Question #30 asks about if you were really angry at someone. If they didn't break rules of the dream but maybe you don't want to talk to them or don't want to see them, don't abuse your share and eject them to get them out of your hair. They would have as much right to be there as you do. You can easily put anyone on ignore and can even use Furcadia's Silence Rule to solve the situation. If you cannot do either of these, leave the dream temporary or log off until you cool down.
Here is a major controversial question. Question #31 asks for one's opinion on Rabbit Havens. Rabbit Havens are rabbit dens/burrows that are above ground. They are normally guarded by wolves or non-walkable objects so wolves can't hunt them. However, this makes it unfair to the wolves on several counts. 1.) The rabbits have all of the underground to make their homes in. The wolves do not as they have plenty of objects to get in their way of making a home. Each the underground and the surface are of equal size but due to the space the items take up on the surface, wolves have the smaller end of the stick. 2.) Rule #9 states, "Wolves hunt rabbits, that's the fun of being a wolf. Do not attack, flame or harass anyone for doing this. And do not dispute it with staff either. If you wish to come above ground without being killed, be a wolf, simple as that." Policies three through five state, "Three: Wolves and rabbits can be friends but a wolf can't help a rabbit and visa versa. This does also mean no protecting rabbits as it hinders a wolf's right to hunt. Four: Rabbits and wolves each have an area of the dream which they rule over. Wolves have the surface and rabbits have the underground. In no means can a rabbit claim an area on the surface or visa versa. Five: Both wolves and rabbits have rights. Wolves have the right to hunt freely and rabbits have the right to live peacefully in the underground." Because of how unfair it makes it to the wolves, Rabbit Havens are discouraged and not allowed in SROARL.
Question #32 asks for an opinon on rule #9 which states, "Wolves hunt rabbits, that's the fun of being a wolf. Do not attack, flame or harass anyone for doing this. And do not dispute it with staff either. If you wish to come above ground without being killed, be a wolf, simple as that." Yes, some of you may get tired of being hunted relentlessly. Most rabbits in real life aren't hunted relentlessly, or at least not in the way portrayed in the dream. However, it's the objective of the wolf to hunt the rabbits in this dream.
Question #33 asks for an opinion on rule #10 which states, "Vacant burrows that are left for a lengthy period of time can be claimed by anyone." Many people work hard on their burrows and wish to keep then, even through updates. They don't want them to be stolen or deleted. Dens and burrows take up space in the dream. If someone wants to take the vacant burrow or den, they can. If there becomes an argument of it, call a staff member. The staff member can judge who should get the burrow or den. The average rule of saying is that if it has been left vacant for over thirty minutes, it's free to claim. The staff member has the right to judge this though. You can afk in your burrow to keep it. About keeping the burrow permanently, no burrows or dens are permanent. They collapse irl and shall do that here too when need be.
Question #34 askes for an opinion on policy #7 which states, "Rabbits should not steal meat and use "too hard" or "unfair" as an excuse, rabbits getting carrots is actually easier than wolves getting meat, so rabbits do have more advantages." According to rule #8, stealing is illegal in SROARL. Sure, animals steal from each other all the time. However, we're not animals and have more of a sense of ownership. Therefore, to solve whining, don't steal at all. If something is reported stolen and a staff member can be told where the item was, the staff member can use the +information command and check what position it is. The staff member would also need to know when it was stolen if possible. SROARL features a logging function that logs EVERYTHING anyone does. If you pick up an item from someone else's den, it'll be logged in that system and you can be traced through it. So do yourself and everyone else a favor, don't steal as we can find you.
Ah, one of my favorite questions. Question #35 asks for an opinion on policy #10 which states, "The entry ds button can count as your first warning. This is by the discrepancy of the staff member involved." Policy #1 states, "By coming into the dream, you automatically agree to obey all rules, staff, and procedures." Don't go about staff saying, "I didn't know!" or "No one ever told me that there were rules, policies, and regulations that I had to follow!" That's a lot of bull as many times in the dream, there are notes about following the rules. Right as you come in, you either have to agree or disagree to the ds button which tells you about the rules, policies, and regulations. If you click agree, then you agree and can go into the dream. If you click disagree, you get ejected until you agree. You could just stay with that entry ds button but that will limit your abilities in the dream.
Question #36 asks about our dream's language regulations. As it is too much to copy, you can look it up here: sroarl.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=rpr&action=display&thread=8 Yes, our dream has a lot of young guests and language is important to remain safe. However, we don't appeal to just young children although they are our focus. If someone is using curse words improperly in their slang form, then it would be of a negative definition. This is what we don't want our younger guests to see or hear. If someone is using words that are considered curse words but are actually using them in the proper definitions, then this would be something they probably can see and not learn any negativity from it. We won't eject anyone using the words properly though if possible, use other words instead of the more colorful choices. There are plenty of words in the English dictionary for anyone to choose from.
If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or anything, feel free to ask Pow or Shy Red's Original. You can even ask it here on the forums if you can reach neither. Someone will get back with you. To our new trial staff, congratulations again. If I had gotten your genders wrong, please forgive me and feel free to correct me.
Thank you all for reading.
